I have been volunteering in some capacity since my boys were in grade school. Over 15 years. Sometimes I would just show up in unexpected places and help out. Doing whatever task was asked of me. Other times I took leadership positions by serving on nonprofit boards, doing my best to make a difference. Most of the opportunities came from networking with others and finding out where there is a need.
Throughout my experiences I found there was one organization that continued to show up in my life. These places I had volunteered had experienced the kindness of this organization. Whether it was a recipient of a grant, fulfilling the needs of a wish list, finding ways to connect people to one another, lifting up or just showing up, Impact 100 was always there!
In January of 2014 I was gifted a membership. I don’t believe the intent was to be a birthday gift, but it felt like one because I received it around January 8th. Today it is one of the best gifts I have ever received, whether it was intended be or not.
Later that year I was asked to join the Impact 100 board. Although intimidating, I love to push myself into uncomfortable positions. I believe it’s how we learn and where we experience growth. For the last 3 years I have served on the board of Impact 100 Cincinnati. As my service comes to an end I can say it has been one of the most fulfilling volunteer opportunities I have ever participated in.
The mission of Impact 100 is to empower women to dramatically improve lives by collectively funding significant grants that make a lasting impact in our community. I have had the honor and privilege over the past three years of working with an outstanding group of women who have done just that.
Not only have these women come together to make a lasting impact in the community but they have made a lasting impact in my life. All different, unique and beautiful. They all come with gifts that somehow gel together to empower each other to make a difference in the community.
These uniquely beautiful smart women show up when needed, encourage each other and give of their time to show our community they care. How can that not make an impression on your life?
They work hard, enjoy life and truly want to see others succeed. Each of them, in their own unique way, have taught me about leadership and supporting one another where ever they are. I know this because whatever was going on in my life they supported me. Sometimes sending the right words of encouragement at just the right time.
Thank you Impact 100 for giving me confidence and believing in me. Thank you for making such a loving difference in my life. I so blessed by you!
